Join the International Human Trafficking Institute, a program of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, in our efforts to monitor for compliance of the posting of the human trafficking hotline notice in Georgia.  The notice will help ensure that victims of human trafficking and persons who suspect human trafficking is taking place can call for help.

O.C.G.A. 16-5-47 was passed into law and signed by the Governor in 2013. It requires that the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline 1-888-3737-888 is posted in businesses and venues as a means of providing help for children and adults who are victims or potential victims of human trafficking.

This law requires certain businesses and establishments (including (1) Adult entertainment establishments; (2) Bars; (3) Primary airports; (4) Passenger rail or light rail stations; (5) Bus stations; (6) Truck stops; (7) Emergency rooms within general acute care hospitals; (8) Urgent care centers; (9) Farm labor contractors and day haulers; (10) Privately operated job recruitment centers; (11) Safety rest areas located along interstate highways in this state; (12) Hotels; and (13) Businesses and establishments that offer massage or bodywork services by a person) to post a notice to enable persons who are the subject of human trafficking to obtain help and services.  The law also directs the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to post a model notice on its website.

On July 1, 2017, amendments to the law became effective, which included the addition of the statewide domestic minor sex trafficking toll-free number; the posting of the hotline notice in all government buildings with public access; and the posting of a link to the hotline notice on the home page of every government entitys Web site.
